Scott grew up in his parent's small drugstore appreciating how difficult it can be to make a living and save for the future. His life has been an exploration of financial security in the midst of relationships and transitions.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in business, Scott visited a high school friend in the San Francisco Bay Area and decided to stay. He entered the world of municipal bonds as a credit analyst, and in that time earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He ultimately designed his own master’s program to earn an MBA. Along the way, he also studied art & photography.
Ready for a change, Scott returned to Minnesota in 2003. He worked for awhile as a landscaper and tax return preparer. These experiences expanded Scott’s ability to build rapport with just about anyone, and soon he was ready to return to financial services. He joined a financial advisory firm in 2009 to support individuals with investments, tax and related financial planning. This direct client contact brought him full circle to his youth in the family drugstore, but this time Scott was also dispensing advice to help people create financial goals and come to a sense of peace about their futures.
Working directly with Amy to support clients with financial planning, Scott focuses on portfolio allocation, tax and estate planning needs. Success for Scott means that clients trust him and AJW Financial to stay on top of their financial goals and keep them informed on appropriate changes to their plans — in times of stability and transition: “I’m a good listener which I think helps clients talk about the tough stuff, face the music and move forward to a place of comfort with their financial situation and goals.”
